Audi Auto Union Pedal Car

Well I did some designing and decided on a structure. Below is a deck I made up from plywood and 19mm radiata pine. I've made it 50% of the size of the Audi replica (which is quarter scale). Should fit my kids ok.

I don't want to copy the original exactly, but hopefully you can see where I am going here. The wheels are from a cheap 'handtruck' that can be brought from Supercheap Auto or the like for about twenty dollars.

Kick steering for now. If the kids get a taste of a steering wheel my keys will go missing...

Audi Auto Union Pedal Car

I recently saw one of these at Audi Richmond, and fell in love.

But the price is steep - $17,000! I am sure I can build one, and motorise it, for a hundredth with change...

Audi Auto Union Pedal Car

I have made a model of the main platform to work to.
Still more thinking needed on my build.

Body goes over the top.

rocksolidengines.com.au

I saw a motorised pushbike from rocksolidengines.com.au today. Surprising to see it at the Ballarat Maxifoods. I was impressed at the build quality. Checking their website I was impressed by their price.

I think i still prefer electric though. The potential for stand alone solar power is very attractive. And these suckers do seem very noisy.

It makes me want to get my act together and rebuild my Aprilia Enjoy.
